Now, first off, we know it’s highly dangerous to go fast especially in India - faster than, well, 20 kph to be honest - and we’d recommend that if you have a 300kph+ car sitting in your garage, you should take it to the racetrack and go for it without worrying about a cow is sleeping on the road around a blind corner. Road accidents kill approximately 17 people per hour in India so if you haven’t gotten the message yet, as a country, we don’t have a clue as to what proper driving is.

So, with the obligatory warnings out of the way, here are the fastest cars you can buy officially in India today. We are not considering stuff that you can import into India yourself.

The figures given here mostly indicate a ballpark figure and depending on many external factors, the cars might go a bit faster or slower.

Let's get the show started, shall we?

No 5: Bentley Continental Supersports 329 kph

Bentley has been one of the granddaddy’s at big speed and even though they lost the plot a while back, they seem to be getting back on track. This is the fastest, most hardcore and most extreme big Ben ever built and the 6.0-litre W12 under the hood packs quite a punch. The 0-100 kph isn’t as hyper as the rest of the lot at 3.9 seconds but the top speed is a massive 329 kph. Should make for a good MI6 getaway car.

No 4: Ferrari FF 335 kph

No doubt it was one of the most controversial Ferrari of recent times but that’s besides the point here because it’s a technological powerhouse underneath the skin. Styled by Pininfarina, the name FF signified ‘Ferrari Four’ or Four Seats, Four Wheel Drive. It’s the first four-wheel drive Ferrari ever and might be the most complicated implementation as well. Regardless, it’s got a whacking great 660 horsepower V12 that’ll transport you and your family to the dark side of 335 kph.

We've driven the FF as well. Read the whole story here:

No 3: F12 Berlinetta 340 kph+

In this list, two Ferraris shouldn’t be a surprise. Ferrari knew they had to send out a fitting reply to Lamborghini’s newest 700 horsepower raging bull and so, the F12 Berlinetta was unleashed. It’s a beautiful looking thing, this Ferrari, but it goes way better than it looks. The naturally-aspirated Maranello V12 cranks out 729 horses and when coupled with a F1-style dual-clutch gearbox, the Berlinetta manages 0-100 kph in 3.1 seconds, 0-200 kph in just 8.5 seconds and it will keep on going beyond 340 kph. One seriously fast Ferrari, this one.

No 2: Lamborghini Aventador 354 kph

It doesn’t just look fast, it is fast. Fast enough to make the paint come off. We, at BSM, were only too glad to have a Lamborghini in the 2nd spot with a top speed of 354 kph! The Murcielago replacement is the latest of the V12 daddy Lamborghinis and it has numbers to prove its capabilities. That wailing 700 bhp V12 will hammer out 0-100 kph in 2.9 seconds if you’re brave enough and the violence will continue as it the needles climbs past 354 kph. We. Want. One.

We've driven the Aventador here in India as well as in its home turf, Italy.

No 1 : Bugatti Veyron 16:4 Super Sport 410.2 kph

Neo. The One. If there’s one entity that shattered our perception of the world, it’s Volkswagen’s Super Bug. It was meant to the ultimate car, pushing the boundaries in a way no one thought was possible. As if the stock Veyron’s pace wasn’t fast enough, Bugatti came up with a SuperSport version with 1200 horsepower and bodywork that employed some of the latest, most advanced aerodynamics.

Of course, it’s not as simple and a million little refinements went into the development but all that hard work paid off when official test driver Pierre Henri Raphanel nailed two massively fast runs at the Ehra-Lessian test track, averaging at a staggering 430.9 kph. That’s absolute madness.

Although in the interest of protecting your car, the production versions will be limited to 410.2 kph. Much slower but still the fastest!

We haven't driven the Super Sports but Srini has managed to bag a drive in the Bugatti Veyron 16:4 Grand Sport
