While rumours continue to circulate about which of the new teams will make it to the grid, US F1 has admitted that they are in talks with the FIA to see whether the team can miss the first four rounds of the F1 season.
The team is hoping to make it to the grid in time for the fifth race of the season, the Spanish GP. Ken Anderson, co-founder of the team has declared that while the Concorde Agreement does not allow teams to miss a single race, that isn't the impression that he has got from the FIA, and that the FIA is in fact doing what they can to help the team.
So far US F1 has only declared one driver, Jose Maria Lopez. But, the team's further progress seems to have been hampered by the fact that they haven't found sufficient funding. Rumours also indicated that the team's co-founder, Peter Windsor had left the outfit, as had Chad Hurley (the founder of YouTube) who is providing a fair amount of sponsorship for the team.
Anderson also declared that the team had every intention of making it to the grid for the 2010 season, even if it wasn't for the season opener. However, the Stefan GP team is waiting in the wings, hoping to race in 2010, even though they haven't yet got entry. If any of the newcomers fail to make it in time for the races, the Serbian outfit will take their place. So if US F1 does want to race, they'd better get their act together, and soon.
