The Canadian GP might have been away from the F1 calendar for a year, but the racing action at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is as hot as ever. While the first practice session was dominated by the McLarens and Michael Schumacher in his Mercedes, the second practice session was all Sebastian Vettel's. Vettel finished fifth in the first practice session, but a few adjustments to the car, and he was flying in FP2. The German driver pipped Ferrari's Fernando Alonso to the top of the speed chart with a time, edging the Spaniard out by 0.086 seconds.
Finishing the session in third, was Mercedes' Nico Rosberg, with 2010 points leader, Mark Webber in fourth. Webber, who'd already declared that the battle for pole was going to be tight, has also stated that the actual race itself is likely to be even more challenging.
Of the first seven races of the season, Red Bull has claimed pole position in all, with Seb Vettel taking three top spots and Webber four.
Michael Schumacher, who was second in the opening practice session, only managed ninth fastest time in the second session. The seven-time world champion has won the Canadian GP seven times. Schumacher has stated that Mercedes is likely to be the third quickest of teams during tomorrow's race.
