F1: Sid Watkins passes away

Professor Sid Watkins, the man largely responsible for making Formula 1 a safer sport than it was at the time, passed away aged 84. Affectionately called 'the Prof' Watkins was a part of F1's official medical team for 26 years and is credited with making ensuring the standards of safety in Formula 1 were raised.

For his contribution to Formula 1 and being an all round good guy, the world of motorsport will certainly miss Dr Watkins.
