Sebastian Vettel put an end to his win-less streak by taking a fine first place at the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix at the Spa Francorchamps circuit. Starting from pole, Vettel made a good start to the race, but lost the lead to a hard charging Nico Rosberg. While the Mercedes driver managed to hold onto the lead for the first few laps, Seb Vettel retook race lead once he activated DRS, sweeping past the Mercedes at Les Combes.
When Vettel pitted for fresh tyres, Rosberg moved into the lead for a short period of time. However his silver arrow was in no position to fend off the assault from Fernando Alonso's Ferrari. Alonso soon slipped into the lead of the race, with Lewis Hamilton running second in his McLaren.
It was Hamilton's race ending crash that resulted in the Safety Car coming out. Vettel dove into the pitlane and managed to assume race lead. After that, there was little anyone could do to stop the Red Bull. Mark Webber finished second making it a Red Bull 1-2. Jenson Button made good moving from 13th on the grid to third. Fernando Alonso had to settle for fourth place, while Michael Schumacher finished after a brilliant drive from 24th place on the grid. It was the seven-time world champion's 20th anniversary at Spa, and he concluded that he was happy with his performance.
