Lotus has revealed its 2012 Formula 1 car, the E20 in an online launch from the team's Enstone factory. The car, although not as radical as some of the other 2012 F1 cars, does feature the stepped nose that was seen on the Ferrari F2012 and the Force India VJM05. The Lotus E20 also features a traditional exhaust layout as stipulated by the 2012 regulations.
While it may look like the black-and-gold liveried E20 is not too much of a departure from the more traditional design, Eric Boullier has suggested that the car does have changes to it that might be subtle, but will make a huge difference to it in terms of performance.
Piloting the Lotus E20 in the 2012 season of Formula 1, will be 2007 F1 World Champion, Kimi Raikkonen and 2011 GP2 champion, Romain Grosjean. While Kimi Raikkonen has been vocal about the fact that he believes the team can build a car that is capable of winning a championship. Raikkonen also went on to say that he is fully motivated and does not agree with people who keep questioning his motivation as a driver.
Romain Grosjean says he has a fair amount of expectations from the car. The French driver said that he had seen the car being built from scratch and is confident that the team will have a good run in 2012. Grojean also declared that driving alongside Kimi Raikkonen would prove beneficial in the longrun.
