This is the Ferrari F150. It isn't the usual Ferrari nomenclature, but the Italian marque has named it's 2011 Formula 1 challenger as a tribute to the hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Unification of Italy. They've even taken this a step further with the Italian tricolour painted on the rear wing, giving the car it's unique look from the rear.
Codenamed 662, the new car has various design influences. Given the fact that the 2011 rules ban the double diffuser and the blown rear wing, these, for obvious reasons, don't make an appearance. Instead, you now get a hydraulically controlled adjustable rear wing. After a one year gap, KERS is now back in Formula 1, and the F150 has incorporated this system into the car as well. This has in turn affected the way the exhaust system has been laid out, with new air exit ducts.
Ferrari has declared that the aerodynamic package that the car sports presently is different from the one that will be seen on the car at the season opener in Bahrain. The current focus has been on development of mechanical components, as well as the new Pirelli tyres. With the freeze on engine development, the Scuderia's horses haven't been tweaked all that much, so the 056 engine will be almost as was last year.
Saturday, the 29th of January is when the F150 will get its shakedown run at the hands of Felipe Massa. The car will later be tested on Tuesday at the Valencia track.
