Those of you that regularly read the magazine must’ve noticed a large hairy thing in some of the photos and a new name pop-up in the bylines somewhere. Well, that would be me. Hi!
If you’ve been reading for longer than that, then you might have even seen me in the mag, oh I don’t know, about five years ago. I’ve been hanging out at the BSM office for a few years now and last December officially became an employee of Motoring. Boy does it feel great!
Besides learning the ropes of the office, the past month has been absolutely insane in terms of work load and fun! It isn’t called an Anniversary issue for nothing y'know. From exotics to the mundane, we’ve had them all this past month and well, to put it mildly, there wasn’t a dull moment in the office.
Well, I could say more about myself, but instead, I’ll let my taste in cars tell you more about me. I don’t have a favourite car, per se, but there are a few cars from times past that I’d kill to drive. One of those would be a Porsche 911, a real one, one that would threaten to kill me if I put a foot wrong. Another one that I love (I wouldn’t mind one of these as a daily drive...) is the Mercedes-Benz 500E (with lots of input from Porsche!). A sleeper in the truest sense of the word. Giant German saloon when stationary, supercar-beating hooligan when on the move, what’s not to love? Then there is the Mazda Miata, possibly one of the purest expressions of a sports car. Okay, purest after you’ve taken out the Caterhams and the like out of contention (who wants to help me build one?).
I’m not exactly a biker, but I do know how to operate a bike. My first vehicular possession was a Kinetic Nova, but at that time, that scooter spent more time with my mechanic than with me. Eventually, it died after the engine seized of oil starvation. No worries though, I’m getting back on the two-wheel wagon, and what better to get back into riding than an old two-stroke bike? Yep, my first bike ever and it’s going to be a Yezdi 250 CL. It’s in bits and pieces now, but it’s on it’s way to being transformed into a flat-tracker-ish thing. The original plan was to make it into a flat tracker, but upon my request, Kyle is modifying the plans a bit to include a pillion seat, hence the -ish at the end. Going by current progress, it’ll take another month to complete and after that, and a bit of gear accumulating, I shall be terrorising the streets of Navi Mumbai.
So there you have it, the introduction of hairyman!
