The car major Maruti Suzuki will launch a new family car 'Eeco' with a 1,200cc petrol engine in the under-Rs 4 lakh segment, at the upcoming Auto Expo in the capital.

The vehicle, which has been specifically designed for the domestic market, will comply with Bharat Stage IV emission norms.

The Eeco was under development out for the past three years and developed by the a team of Maruti Suzuki engineers.

The Eeco will come with a three-row and two-row seating arrangements with seating capacities of five and seven passengers, respectively.

According to industry sources, the car will be under C segment and is likely to be priced below Rs 4 lakh.

When contacted, Maruti Suzuki Managing Executive Officer (Engineering) IV Rao said: "The new car represents the growing expertise of our engineers to conceive, design and produce vehicles here. This is also in line with parent Suzuki Corp's vision of turning India into a global hub for small car research and development."

As the owner of this car my sincer suggesion to new buyer is its not a good car its a omni on a trailer look from behind .Steering is pretty hard I have clocked 5000kms still its not smooth.Body roll is very dangerous after 90kmph .Mileage without a/c with 2/3rd gear in city is 9-10kmpl on high way with 30% a/c I got 14kmpl with just 2 on board. Head lights not upto mark for long distance night drive./It looks big on space but hardly any usable space buy it and you will regret it for unused vertical space.pay 50000 more and buy a decent car with more safety features

I BROUGHT A RED COLOURED 5 SEATER EECO IN THE 1ST WEEK OF FEB. AS FAR VALUE FOR MONEY IS CONCERNED EECO GETS 5 OUT OF 5.LACK OF POWER STEERING, POWER WINDOWS AND CENTRAL LOCKING IS A MAJOR IMPEDIMENT. I HAVE DRIVEN IT TO 110 KMP/HR AND IT DOENT'T WOBBLE.MILEAGE IS AROUND 11 TO A LITRE.ROAD VIEW IS QUITE GOOD AND EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE IS BELOW THE DRIVER'S SEAT, IT DOES'T GET HEATED UP. ACCESSORIES ARE VERY DIFFICULT TO GET EVEN AT THE SHOWROOMS GO FOR IT IF PRICE AND SPACE ARE THE MAJOUR FACTORS.

Hence had a look around for some of the medium level cars but could not get along with any as no other cars could help me in accomodating 7 members. When is this Eeco going to be launched for sale? Three years for suzuki engineers whoops for stripping down versa power steering, reducing frontal safety cage ,reduce size of side impact beams ,weld a thin sheet platform at luggage space to accomodate last bench seat.remove rpm meter, analogue tripmeter and instal cheap chinese made digital tripmeter, reduce stroke of noisy 1.3 engine of versa bring it into small car exise duty bracket sell it to gullible indians with good sales network well done Mr.Rao for fooling indian public with the help of new east india company of osama suzuki

it looks like versa, i think its remodelled and upgraded with new gadgets but not too high plz dont imagine too high. price approx 2.50lakh but not sure , is it petrol or diesel? does it has ac attached or not? even with ac the price tag is too much for it. speed and pick up mileage? as a family car we need good mileage and safe optimum good pick up, a family car should not expect a lancer pick up... hope all understand.

I am one of the owners of versa twice and almost 8 years in total. I think for Eeco : - sliding doors will be much suited rather than openable type, considering the indian conditions. It looks attractive and seems to have a larger dimensions than vera but less height. In short a bigger version of wagon-R
