Why is Merc petrol priced higher than diesel when generally it is other way round? Does that mean petrol has better tech than diesel? The weight of diesel too is more than petrol. However, it is equally true that 55% of Merc sales are in diesel.

With no offence to anyone's opinion, i would express that thinking in lines of "fastest" 50 lakh rupee sedans as the best, servers no purpose... The customer base of a 50 lakh car does not have speed as their priority while selecting their drive... Speed is too petty a thing to look into, for such buys.. Moreover, the E350 does not compete with the A4.. So, comparing the two sedans or getting them under th same umbrella is wrong and does not help anyone arrive at any conclusion...

I have been a petrol head up until 2 years ago when I drove a crdi unit and realized how far along Diesel engines have come while the Petrols have been more or less stagnant. I am totally a TORQUE fan now. Having said that, it is clear that Audi (and their beautiful Tdi engines, especially the 3.0 litre 6 cyl. Tdi) are making the best diesel engines and are the only brand to have the foresight and guts to throw a diesel engine into the TT S sports car and the Le Mans. Bravo!! ..and give us more! Also, the A4 3.0 Tdi Quattro is easily THE FASTEST and BEST LOOKING 4 door sedan in our country today. With 240 PS and 51 NM Torque and a 0-100 kmph time of 6.2 seconds, it RULES!! I drove one with drive select and quattro and it OWNS both Mercs and Beemers. The new E class also is looking good though. But Audi rules!

This 'diesel = noisy and smelly' nonsense is getting old now. Find some new phrases/ideas, man!

Is this a driving impression or a cut-paste job from the Mercedes press release, which we can anyway read on the Mercedes website?! Stop talking about fuel injectors and nozzles and the rest of the techno-babble, for heaven's sake, and tell us how the car is to drive!
