Chevrolet is slowly letting the details on its upcoming small SUV, the Trax, trickle through to the public. This SUV, which will be based on the American market Buick Encore, is similar in size to the Ford EcoSport, but then again, they've mentioned cars like the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3 when speaking of the Encore, so if it makes it here, don't expect it to be priced similarly to the EcoSport though.
As mentioned before, the Trax will rival the X1 and Q3 in terms or rear seat space, but materials might be different, considering the Buick is positioned differently.
There is no word on what will be powering this, but the Encore on which this will be based, comes with a 1.4-litre turbo-four engine making 140 bhp of peak power. The Encore is limited to a six-speed automatic transmission, but for the global market, Chevrolet may offer a manual version.
Just a petrol version won't do for the global market though, so GM might offer it with one of the engines that currently does duty in the Opel Corsa, like the 74 bhp 1.3-litre or 130 bhp 1.7-litre diesel engines.
More details to come as we get closer to the Paris Motor Show in September.
