BMW India has launched its fifth engine variant on the 5 Series sedan platform in India. The 520d will now be BMW's cheapest 5 Series on sale, priced at Rs 36.9 lakh, ex-showroom, All India.
The F10 520d takes over from the previous generation E60 520d as BMW's entry-level 5 Series. Powered by a revised version of its 1995cc diesel motor which also powered the last generation, it now produces 185 bhp of peak power and a very impressive 38.4 kgm of peak torque from as low as 1,750 rpm. According to company figures, the car can now accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 8.1 seconds and go on to a top speed of 225 kph. The car also delivers a pretty impressive 18.4 kpl as measured by ARAI.
On the inside, the 520d loses some features over the 525d. It now gets a single disc player with auxillary and USB ports instead of the six-disc changer. The car is available in ten exterior colours and four interior colour options.
