After a successful year in 2014 where the BMW Group delivered more than two million vehicles, the New Year has got off to a good start with 7 percent sales jump as compared to the same month a year ago. A total of 1,42,154 vehicles were sold in January, a new high for the month, while the same month last year had witnessed the sale of 1,32,906 vehicles.
“This is a positive start, building on the success of last year,” said Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Sales and Marketing BMW.
“Looking ahead, we are aiming for further growth in 2015, despite still challenging economic conditions in some markets. There are a number of very exciting model launches coming up this year and our target is to increase global sales for a fifth successive year,” Robertson added.
BMW, the brand itself, out-performed with sales higher than any previous January. A total of 1,24,561 BMW brand vehicles were delivered to customers, posting a good 6.3 percent bump on the same month last year.
Even the overall sales of Mini brand vehicles were also higher than ever before in January. The iconic brand achieved double-digit growth of 12.0 percent, compared with the same period last year.
The year has started very positively for BMW Motorrad, brand’s motorcycle arm. A total of 6,263 maxi-scooters and motorcycles were delivered to customers, a sales increase of 15.2 percent compared with January 2014.
