Never mind that you can't see the bike because of the smoke. It looks exactly the same. Oh, except for the little '150' decal on the tail panel. And that's what this, the newest Discover, is all about. Yeah, I know what you're thinking - Pulsar motor in Disco chassis. I thought the same too, but it's not the case here. What the Discover 150 comes with is an XCD 135-based motor with a bump-up in displacement. More or less everyone who's seen the bike has wondered aloud about the sense this bike makes. 'So many Discovers, Pulsars, Platinas and what have you? What're they thinking, man?' went one. Well, as far as I can tell, it's all part of a strategy that will be fully revealed by the end of the year. The Pulsars are going to take a decidedly sporty focus, so Bajaj needs something to fill the hardcore commuter 150 segment. And the Discover 150 is Bajaj's first move to cover all bases. So what's it like to ride? Pretty good, actually.
As I mentioned at the beginning, there's nothing spectacular about the way it looks. The Disco's been around for a long enough time for people to miss it in the traffic signal crowd. The decals are new, I think, but I couldn't be less bothered. The tail lamp is from the Disco 100, the same out-of-place chrome unit that holds LEDs. I would really like to see the old bright Disco shades making a comeback instead of these increasingly tiresome all-black paint schemes. No, think about it - almost every bike in Bajaj's line-up is all-black! What was once exclusive has now become commonplace.
