2. Maruti Suzuki XA Alpha

Another Auto Expo star was the XA Alpha concept. This one is based on a monocoque construction rather than a ladder-frame chassis like the Gypsy. The 94 bhp, 1.4-litre K14 engine that debuted in the Ertiga could find its way under the hood of the XA Alpha, while the 1.3-litre Multijet will hold the fort on the diesel end of the spectrum. Given Maruti’s pace from concept to final product, expect a late-2013/early-2014 debut.
