There I stood, my face stuck to the showroom glass, as I stared into the Planet Bajaj showroom in Pune. On a grand revolving table stood this gleaming purple cruiser, chrome and paint interlocking with each other to highlight the motorcycle's curves. I lusted, drooled and did everything a teen would do when he sees a desirable motorcycle. Sadly, I never got around to owning an Eliminator, but some bloke in my hostel did. Suddenly, he became my best friend.

The Eliminator is long gone but the Avenger has taken on from where the old Kwacker left off. First, it got the 200cc motor from the Pulsar and now, it's grown to a whole 220cc, thanks to an engine borrowed from Bajaj's fastest Indian.

Those of you who have tasted the Pulsar 220's tendency to fling you forward will know what I mean when I say that the 220's engine is one heck of a brute. Wringing the throttle even halfway through will be enough to hurl the Avenger forward at a pace that will surprise you. I'll even go on to say that the Avenger 220 DTS-i is certainly the country's first home-grown power cruiser.

I own a 200 CC Avenger which was purchased 12 months ago. The bike is awesome but like no one is perfect it also lacks something. The tyre is very very bad that it slip even in a drop of water.and the rear brake is disgusting.Bajaj should use dsic brake to as rear brake & tyre should have perfect Grip.

Avenger is a nice try by Bajaj at cruisers.. But it kind of misses the whole point of cruising.. One shouldn't share a Pulsars engine to cruise.. It's not about speed.. It's about adequate power and really high torque..that makes a cruiser.. RE lighning was one.. Of course the best of it, a Harley.

I own a 180cc and its a joy to ride everyday. One correction in the article here... as far as i remember the eliminator was a 125cc mill and that was one of the reasons of its failure other than being pricey

eliminator was a 180 mil and 88 grand that was all . and also the enticer was from yamaha.
