WHAT IS IT?
A Panda newer than the much-loved Po. This 2012 Fiat Panda scores top marks in the funkiness department but that’s not all there is to love on this third-generation Panda. Like many of us, it’s grown all around but unlike us, it’s only to give you more space on the insides. Also, trust the Italians to lend the interiors a touch of class and style seldom seem in this segment. Fiat’s new tiny yet capable powerplant – the TwinAir twin-cylinder turbocharged motor – will be available along with the good ol’ MultiJet diesel on offer too. You can’t go wrong with those, can you? 4x4 is also on its way.
AND WHY SHOULD I BE BOTHERED?
Because if you’re looking at a nice, comfortable, reasonably stylish, affordable and economical hatch, this is one of the best options there is. Plus, the tech has been upgraded too – there’s automatic city-speed collision avoidance, Bluetooth connectivity, start-stop system and Fiat’s robotised manual gearbox. So, just the other adorable Panda that we see in cinemas, it’s hard not to like this one.
