American automotive giant Chevrolet is doing pretty well in our market thanks to knock-out products like the Beat diesel hatchback and the Cruze sedan. They hope to continue that trend into the future with a slew of launches coming our way starting with the Chevrolet Sail hatchback. The Sail is supposed to replace the Aveo U-VA, and hopefully it will fare better on the sales charts than the U-VA. The Sail is a hatchback that was jointly developed by GM and Chinese automotive giant SAIC.
Powering this new hatchback will be the 1.2-litre petrol engine that does duty in the Beat petrol with the possibility of a Multijet diesel finding its way into the engine bay later on. The Sail will be launched here during the second half of next year.
Apart from that, they also plan on bringing other products of this joint-venture like the Wuling CN-100 MUV. It's not a looker by any stretch, but it is practical. With the Tavera being relegated to taxi duty these days, they could really use an MUV that can compete against the Innova. As for actual launches that will take place there, the updated Captiva, with a new front end, more powerful engine and refreshed interior will make an appearance. With all these and a WTCC car on display, the Chevrolet stand at Auto Expo is definitely one to visit.
