BMW’s ever so popular premium SUV, the X5, receives styling changes and two new engine options for the updated 2011 model. The front fascia, the headlamps, taillamps as well as the air intakes get a minor facelift, all available in new colours for you to choose from. The xDrive35i variant comes with a single-turbo 3000cc inline-six rated at 300 hp that will work with an eight-speed automatic to get you from 0-100 kph in a claimed 6.4 seconds.
And if that doesn’t float your boat, you can order the new xDrive50i from your friendly neighborhood BMW dealer. What will result is some serious tire shredding action, courtesy of the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 – straight from the X6 – that peaks with 400 galloping horses. The 0-100 kph time is knocked down to a scant 5.3 sec. A brake energy regeneration system is part of the package as well. We expect BMW India to bring in the updated X5 before the end year.
