Big money players rejoice, for Audi has a 2010 gift for you. It’s a luxury barge called the A8 and for 2010, it gets some visual, mechanical and feature updates to make sure they offer you the best there is. In comes an updated 4200cc FSI V8 that puts out 372 horsepower and a BMW 760Li equaling 8-speed gearbox, as standard. Audi says the fuel efficiency has gone up by 15% despite the increase in horsepower, thanks to smart new technology. A new aluminum Audi Space Frame will now nestle the various engines on offer, weighing in 40 percent less than a comparable steel structure. The interiors receive an update as well and the result sure does look very classy, sophisticated and modern. Also, the A8 will feature full LED headlights, pioneered on the R8 V10. They can smartly throw their light beams around, based on feedback from the navigation system, to improve visibility. Audi will also hand you a touchpad to feed in data to the multimedia interface system (MMI) and they do expect you to do more than just draw doodles on the pad. As you can see from the photos, the A8 gets a new look. The lines look crisp and bold, making the A8 look bang up to date. And although the new design attracts different opinions, we think reserving your comments till you see one in the flesh is a good bet. And so, with the newspapers declaring that the recession is over and that everyone’s going to well fed once again, we think the new A8 is a jolly good way of celebrating the same. A long wheelbase version will only make the celebrations better.
